Rufus Keeton, 76, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at St. Claire Healthcare in Morehead following a brief illness.
He was born on February 28, 1945 in Morgan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Andy and Gladys Burton Keeton.
Rufus married the love of his life Connie Ann McCoy Keeton, who preceded him in death on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.
He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Rufus worked in environmental services at Morehead State University. He also enjoyed Nascar and his Kentucky Wildcats and he attended Clearfield Baptist Church and Charity Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jimmy Keeton, Paul Keeton, and Bobby Keeton and two sisters, Dolly Keeton and Elizabeth Caudill.
Survivors includes his daughter, Ruby Spencer (Mike) of Portsmouth, Ohio, step-daughter, Kim Weaver (David) of Morehead, step-son, Glennis Mitchell Hamm of Newton, Kansas, two brothers, Jr. Keeton (Cheree) of Kansas and Billy Keeton of Morehead, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, November 15, 2021 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Pastor Rob Kidd and Pastor Harlan Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Esham Cemetery in Lewis County.
Visitation is after 11:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as casket bearers.
