Pauline McKenzie

Pauline Smedley McKenzie, 85, of Morehead, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021 at St. Claire HealthCare.

She was born on February 15, 1936 in Craney, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Jesse E. and Hester Foster Smedley.

Pauline had worked at Cowden’s Manufacturing and St. Claire Regional Medical Center.

She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church and she enjoyed quilting, cooking, canning, gardening, fishing, flowers, playing cards and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mitch McKenzie, one daughter, Eleanor E. McKenzie, three brothers, Jesse L. Smedley, Charles Smedley and Harold Smedley and one sister, Mildred Carter.

Survivors include one daughter, Bonnie Edington and her husband, Donald of Morehead, one brother, Ronald Smedley of Morehead, two sisters, Ruth Henriquez of Spring Hill, Florida and Mary Montgomery of Tampa, Florida, four grandchildren, Jason Gilliam, Crystal Bowling, Chris Padelford and Bryan Padelford, ten great-grandchildren, Felicia Reynolds, Lane Bowling, Scott Bowling, Faith Bowling, Ella Gilliam, Chance Gilliam, Clara Padelford, Ahnika Padelford, Cooper Padelford and Cody Padelford, two great-great-grandchildren, Becklyn McGlone and Maddox Reynolds and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 21, 2021 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Jason Gilliam officiating.

Burial will follow in the New Alfrey Cemetery.

Visitation is after 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Chris Padelford, Bryan Padelford, Jeremy Bowling, Mike Reynolds, Joe Frantz and Jason Gilliam.
