Lois (Wells) McHugh

April 24, 1950 ~ May 26, 2020 (age 70)

Obituary

The obituary of Lois Wells McHugh written by her daughter, Shannon Isenhoff:

I was going to start with a traditional obituary, but my mother was anything but ordinary; my mother was one of a kind.  So, the following:

Lois “Double L” Wells McHugh would like for you to know that she still is the best looking in the room.  Lois received a never ending golf invitation from God on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.  This invitation had a huge payout and a place where she could sing “under the boardwalk”, dance and be united with her mother and father but most importantly, everyone there is beautiful and there are clean sheets on the bed.

I have been blessed to have her in my life, through the good and bad.  She taught me many valuable lessons, like how to make amazing chili and vegetable soup but do not worry mom still not as good as yours.

My mother was the strongest person I knew; she gave breast cancer hell; she was a fighter!

She was born in Prestonsburg Kentucky on April 24, 1950.  She was a graduate of PCC in respiratory therapy.  She lived many places from Atlanta to Louisville to Morehead with her final stomping ground in Lexington, Kentucky.  She loved sports and was an avid UK fan.

A special thanks to her husband, Tom for standing by her during her toughest days.  I know it was not easy and I am eternally grateful.

As many of you know my mother was a proud woman, that is why this is such a shock to family and friends but that was Lois, she had to go out with a bang!

She was preceded in death by loving parents, Melvin and Mary Wells and she is survived by sisters, Peggy Graham and Jeanie Warrix, brothers Norman, Doug, Randy, and Jeff Wells, her husband, Dr. Tom McHugh, two step-children, Monica Stan and Jesse McHugh (Kelly), her daughter, Shannon Isenhoff (Mitch), her grandsons, who she loved more than life itself, Michael, Mathew and Tyler Isenhoff, step-grandkids, Marshall, Luke and Natalie Stan and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mom was an amazing woman who lived a great life; she brought joy to everyone around her.  She had a smile that could light up a room.  Her happiness was infectious.  Once you met her, you never forgot her.  She will have heaven wrapped around her fingers.

To all her family and friends, how lucky we were to have known such an incredible lady.

Cannot wait to see you again, on the other side mom.  Just know you will be missed beyond words!!!!
