James "Jim" Pollitte

James David (“Jim”) Pollitte, 90, of Maysville, Kentucky formerly of Morehead, passed away Thursday morning, June 25, 2020 at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

He was born on January 15, 1930 in Harlan, Kentucky, a son of the late Ray B. and Ethel Davis Pollitte.

Mr. Pollitte was a United States Air Force Veteran and worked for the Central Intelligence Agency.  Jim graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Business Administration.  He was a District Manager for Cowden Manufacturing Company, where he worked for 30 years.  Jim spent his retirement years managing the Bicentennial, Triple J Farm in Mason County, which he owned with family.  Mr. Pollitte served on the Board of Directors of Whitaker Bank and was a member of the Lions Club.

He was a member of the Catholic Church, having attended Jesus Our Savior Catholic Church in Morehead from 1962 to 1990 and was currently attending Saint Patrick Church in Maysville.

Jim had a fun loving personality and was known for his sense of humor and quick wit.  His family and friends knew him as a man who loved to swim, walk the beach, solve Sudoku and crossword puzzles, work the farm, and dance with his beloved wife.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Rae Jones and Alethia Livesay.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Martha Elizabeth Cratty Pollitte, one son, David Ray Pollitte (Robin) of Morehead, two daughters, Cheryl Ann McBrayer of Maysville and Patricia Renee McClurg (Danny) of Morehead, his brother-in-law, Edward (“Pete”) Livesay of Maysville, seven grandchildren, Jason Waltz (Kayla), Kayli Clatterbuck (Brant), Casie Morehouse (Justin), Benjamin McBrayer (Caitlin), Brianna Hurst (Paige), Jameson McBrayer (Melissa) and Ian McClurg, seven great-grandchildren, Colton, Shylee, Parker, Lucas, Wyatt, Maya and Lincoln and several other relatives and friends.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, June 27, 2020.

Private family funeral services will be held with burial in the Olivet Methodist Church Cemetery in Mason County.

Pallbearers will be Jason Waltz, Justin Morehouse, Ben McBrayer, Jameson McBrayer, Ian McClurg and Brant Clatterbuck.
