James Eldridge

Haldeman

James Roger Eldridge, 85 of Haldeman passed away Tuesday evening at his home after an extended illness. He was born in Haldeman, Kentucky on March 15, 1935 to the late Thomas A. and Lillian Messer Eldridge.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers; Jerry F. Eldridge, Ronald Lee Eldridge and William M. "Billy" Eldridge.

Roger was a  veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a graduate of Morehead State University and was retired from the Rowan County School System where he taught and coached at Farmers, Clearfield and Rowan County Middle Schools. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, taking long walks and watching sports. He had also worked part time at Lee Clay and for the federal government on the Morehead Tobacco Market.

One of the things he was most proud of was the fact that he and his family along with some others built their family home in 1971.

Survivors include his wife Avanelle White Eldridge. Three sons; Roger Alan (Karen) Eldridge of Wilmington, Ohio, James Douglas (Jacqueline) Eldridge of Dublin, Ohio and Thomas Earl (Karen) Eldridge of Haldeman, Kentucky. Two grandchildren; Stephen Alan (Jerica) Eldridge and Erinn Nicole Eldridge, Three Great-grandchildren; Alastair James Eldridge, Isla Jean Eldridge and Camden Asher Eldridge. Three nephews; Michael Eldridge, Greg Eldridge and Kevin Eldridge. Also many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 pm Saturday, February 27, 2021 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Michael Barker and Eddie White officiating.

Burial will follow in the New Sill Cemetery at Haldeman.

Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the Corbie Ellington American Legion Post No. 126.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is after 12:00 pm Saturday.

Pall bearers will be Rodney Puckett, Jeffrey Fannin, Michael Eldridge, Gregory Eldridge and other family members.

In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the Haldeman-Hayes Crossing Fire Department, 6400 U.S. Highway 60 East, Morehead, Kentucky 40351
