Clayton D. Carroll, 92 of Olive Hill, Kentucky entered into rest on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, after an extended illness. He was surrounded by his loving family at his home.
He was born October 2, 1929, in Carter County, Kentucky to the late John Thomas and Ethel Colley Carroll.
Clayton was retired from the Kentucky Department of transportation after 25 years of service. He built many friendships along his journey. He was a member of the Haldeman Church of God where he enjoyed singing and playing his guitar, all while praising the Lord.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his latest wife Louise Stigall Carroll of 19 years and his beloved late wife Betty Jean Carroll of over 50 years. His late sisters, Gerlea Ramsey, Inez Stewart and Lacy Carroll. Also, one daughter Carolyn Sue Dyer.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Kay Carroll of Olive Hill, Kentucky. He leaves behind five grandchildren, Susan (Chris) Bottdorf of Mansfield, Ohio, Donita (Greg) Shaffer of Hitchins, Kentucky, Bonita Johnson of Flatwoods, Kentucky, Jason (Louise) Moreland of Ewing, Kentucky and Marty (Stacy) Littleton of Grayson, Kentucky. Six great-grandchildren, Cody Berger, T. J. (Shelby) Layne, Chelsea (Robert) Bailey, Elisha Novak, Zachary Campbell, Destiny Moreland, Jr. Muse, Tina McCarty and Bobby Muse. Also, several nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Friday, December 10, 2021, in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Bobby Day officiating.
Burial will follow in the Carroll-Nelson Cemetery at Grahn, Kentucky.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is after 5:00 pm Thursday.
Pall Bearers will be Jack Pennington, Chris Sparks, Ivan Click, J. B. Carter, T. J. Layne and Greg Shaffer.
