Cephas Littleton, Sr.

Elder Cephas Littleton, Sr. 85 of Cranston, Kentucky passed away Tuesday evening, August 3, 2021 at his home. He was born July 16, 1936 in Rowan County, Kentucky to the late Arch and Lorna Lewis Littleton.

He was a lifelong resident of Rowan County and U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church  since 1956 and has been an ordained Deacon in the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church. He has been a Primitive Baptist minister since 1975. Cephas was a member of the Cranston Cemetery Association since the early 1950's and was also commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by State Representative Ron Cyrus. He was a retired carpenter and farmer having raised 50 crops of tobacco. He also enjoyed raising and caring for his cattle.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Derrick Lee Littleton, brothers, Dorris Ray Littleton, Guy Littleton and Orris Jay Littleton. Sisters, Agnes Back, Fern Hamm, June Richards and Jewell Howard.

Survivors include his wife Juanita Oney Littleton whom he married October 6, 1956. Four children, Cephas (Liz) Littleton, Jr., Joseph Estill  (Alisa) Littleton, William Vaughan (Amanda) Littleton all of Morehead and Deborah Ann (Terry) Ishmael of Hillsboro, Kentucky. One brother, Philip Littleton of Chillicothe, Ohio. Sisters, Ponzell Helterbrand and Teresa Helterbrand both of Morehead. Grandchildren: Jason Littleton, Chuck Littleton,  Katie Caudill, Emily Littleton, Brittany Littleton, MiKayla Winkleman, Austin Littleton, Abigail Ishmael,  Audrey Ishmael, Avery Ishmael, Zachary Callahan and Abigail Callahan. Great-grandchildren, Jaxon Littleton, Landon Martin, Layla Littleton, Alexander Caudill, Raina Williams, Emmitt Pergrem, Chloe Caniff, Carlee Winkleman and Alana Winkleman.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Saturday, August 7, 2021 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Elders Noel Lee and James Kimbrough officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sardis Cemetery.

Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the Corbie Ellington American Legion Post No. 126.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is after 5:00 pm Friday. A short church service will be conducted at 7:30 pm Friday.

Pall bearers will be Howard Helterbrand, Philip Littleton, Philip Edward Littleton, Harry Gulley, Chuck Littleton, Jason Littleton and Austin Littleton. Honorary pall bearers will be his children, Cephas Littleton, Jr., Joseph Estill Littleton, William Vaughan Littleton, Deborah Ann Ishmael and nephew Eugene Hamm.
