Willow Leach

June 8, 1927 — April 5, 2016

Mrs. Willow Dean Mink Leach, 88, of Clearfield, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 in the Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.

She was born on June 8, 1927 in Richardson, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Charles Everett and Helen Elva Hinkle Mink.

Mrs. Leach was a retired schoolteacher.  She started her teaching career at Bratton Branch one room school and continued with schools in Sandy Hook, Kentucky, Angola, Indiana, Bronson, Michigan and Mason, Ohio.  Willow also spent 19 years working at the original Morehead Dairy Queen, where she retired from in 2000.

She was a member of the Flemingsburg Christian Church, Rowan County Historical Society and Order of the Eastern Star, Morehead Chapter.  She was also an avid genealogist and a graduate of Fleming County High School and Morehead State University.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Alburn Leach, who passed away on June 10, 1974 and two brothers, Harry Hinkle Mink and Winston Delano Mink.

Survivors include three children, Cathy Leach of Clearfield, Mike Leach of Fairfield, Ohio and Cindy Leach of Clearfield, two nephews, Earl (Ronita) Leach of Ewing and Andy Leach of Danville, sister-in-law, Judith Sparkman (Philip) Leasure of Melbourne, Florida, three great nieces and numerous cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 8, 2016 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Earl Leach and Philip Leasure officiating.

Burial will follow in the Lee Cemetery.

Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Eastern Star services by the Order of the Eastern Star, Morehead Chapter will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Johnson, Patrick Howard, Jeff Smedley, Gary Lewis, Eric Ramey and Rodney Watkins.

Honorary pallbearers will be Noah Blankenship, Cameron Hinton, Amber Huff and the Fleming County High School Class of 1944.
