Willodene Alfrey Herrick

Willodene (Alfrey) Herrick, 92, of Anderson, Indiana formerly of Kentucky, entered peace and rest on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Sugar Fork Crossing in Anderson following an extended illness.

She was born on December 21, 1930 in Bertis, Kentucky, to the late Troy and Vonnie (Staton) Alfrey. 

She had resided in the Madison County, Indiana area for the past 68 years.

She was a graduate of Frenchburg, Kentucky High School-Class of 1947. She went on to obtain her LPN nursing license and later received a Bachelor of Science nursing degree from Anderson University, becoming an RN.

Willodene devoted her life to the compassionate care of the elderly. She first worked for several years at the Dickey Nursing Home in Elwood and then for most of her career she cared for veterans at the VA Medical Center in Marion.

She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Blessed Savior in Alexandria. Willodene enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, and cooking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters-Alma Emogene (Harrison) Combs and Ruth Emily (Robert) Walton; brothers, Charles Farrel Alfrey and Carl Douglas (Hilda) Alfrey; granddaughters, Andrea Elizabeth Médard and Athalia B. Médard; and her husbands, Winstead Briggs, Andrew Belokopitsky, Dr. Robert Loftin and Alvin Herrick.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Norris of Elwood, Indiana and Andrea Belokopitsky-Médard of Culver, Indiana, one son, Stephen (Molly) Belokopitsky of Alexandria, Indiana, grandchildren, Matthew (Alicia) Norris of Elwood, Indiana, Angela (Brandon) Mitchell of Converse, Indiana, and Anastasia (Jonathon) Beeson, Francois A. Médard, and Alexandra (Michael) Beck all of Culver, Indiana and Charlotte (Jonathan) Olsten of Beavercreek Township, Ohio, one brother, Phillip Roger (Dee) Alfrey of Morehead, Kentucky, fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews

Graveside services and burial will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, September 11, 2023 at the Roll Alfrey Cemetery (On 1274) in Rowan County, Kentucky with Pastor Joey Damron officiating.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is from 11:00 A.M. to 12:15 P.M. Monday.
