William Parker “Bill” Wardlow, 68, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
He was born on August 1, 1956 in Crab Orchard, Kentucky, a son of the late Elmore and Eloise Murrell Wardlow.
Bill retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, where he had worked as a compliance officer in the Department of Revenue.
He was a member of the Morehead Masonic Lodge Number 654.
Bill played basketball in high school in Crab Orchard and also at Somerset Community College. He graduated from the community college and went on to attend Morehead State University.
He started his career working for Big K Stores; then on to Wal-Mart, as a store manager. Bill helped open the Wal-Mart Super Store in Morehead and Wal-Mart Super Centers in California.
He had his pilot license and enjoyed flying his small plane that he owned for many years. Bill also enjoyed playing golf with his son, Chris when he was growing up; riding his motorcycle and he loved to tell stories about the basketball games that he played in high school and college.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Anthony Wardlow and Jeffrey Wardlow.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Fairchild and his son, Christopher Wardlow of Crossville, Tennessee.
Private services were held.
Burial was in the South Fork Cemetery in West Liberty, Kentucky.
The Michael R. Gray Funeral Home at 808 Old Flemingsburg Road in Morehead cared for all arrangements for William Parker “Bill” Wardlow.
