William Cowan

Mr. William Gene Cowan, 83 of Ewing, Kentucky, passed away Friday, March 30, 2012 in the Fleming County Hospital.

He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 30, 1928, a son of the late Charles and Christine Peratt Cowan.

Mr. Cowan retired in 1985 after 30 years of service as County Director with the Fleming County ASCS office. Bill was a 1950 graduate of the University of Kentucky and a United States Air Force Veteran having served for 27 months during the Korean Conflict. He was a long time member and deacon of the Ewing Baptist Church, former member of the Ewing Volunteer Fire Department, former Fleming-Mason Airport Board Member and he enjoyed golf and farming.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Jeremy Dye.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jane Story Cowan, one daughter, Cynthia (Robert) Garrison of Doniphan, Missouri, one son, Billy (Tammy) Cowan of Ewing, one grandson, Isaac Carpenter of Louisville, one brother, Gordon Cowan of Mason County and one nephew, Terry (Molly) Cowan of Mason County.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Ewing Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Abrams officiating.

Burial will follow in the Elizaville Cemetery.

Visitation is from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Sunday at the church.

Pallbearers will Tracy Hunt, Mark Sergent, Terry Cowan, Jim Cowan, Jeff Cowan and Mark Potter and honorary pallbearers will be Larry Courtney, Ralph Owens, Paul Louallen, Bob DeHart and Harold Porter.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Ewing Baptist Church Building Fund or Hayswood Hospice of Hope.
