Wilbur Perry

MOREHEAD - Wilbur Lee Perry, age 87 of Mansfield , Ohio , formerly of Morehead, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 at his home in Mansfield after an illness of several weeks.

Wilbur was born September 16, 1927 in Rowan County , Kentucky .  He was the son of the late Harlen P. Perry and Ivy Sexton Perry. Along with his parents he is proceeded in death by three brothers; Ralph Perry, Marvin Perry, Grant Perry, and one sister Betty Payton. His life long friend and wife of 58 years, Edith Lucille Jennings Perry, also proceeded him in death on June 27, 2011.

Wilbur is survived by five daughters; Sue Sherer of Mansfield, Ohio, Judy (Glen) Gee of Mansfield, Ohio, Betty (David) Cantwell of Rush, Kentucky, Barbara Perry of Clearfield, Kentucky, and Brenda (Larry) Abrams of Mansfield, Ohio; nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Others include a younger sister; Bernice Clevinger of Florida , and several nieces and nephews, and many friends and loved ones.

Wilbur was a loving father whom retired from A. K. Steel-mill after 30 years as a blacksmith and a hardworking farmer.  He was an avid outdoorsman, with a passion for fishing and gardening, which he shared with everyone. He loved to hear the gospel and was saved September 23, 1972; he has been serving The Lord since then. Wilbur attended Dean Road Freewill Baptist Church in Mansfield , Ohio and was a witness to many, as he shared his blessings each day.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 20, 2015 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Pastor Earl Tackett and Pastor Ray Glover officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bowman Cemetery .

Visitation at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home is after 5:00 P.M. Thursday.

Pall Bearers: Allen Carper, Tim Carper, Chad Abrams, Matthew Abrams, Adam J. Lawhorn, and Kyle Cantwell.

Honorary Pall Bearers: Jason Balok and Tyler Hogg.
