Mrs. Violet Ruth Barnett, 84, of Morehead, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017 at her home after an illness of several weeks.
She was born on January 1, 1933 in Elliott County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Silas and Bessie Blankenbeckler Barnett.
Violet had worked at Cowden’s Manufacturing and she attended the Concord Enterprise Baptist Church.
She enjoyed quilting, gardening, flowers, antiques and dolls.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jess Johnson, three sons, Larry Johnson, Gary Johnson and Keith Johnson, one great-grandchild and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include five sons, Calvin Wayne Johnson of Morehead, Jess (Jeanetta) Johnson, Jr. of Elliottville, Jerome Johnson of Olive Hill, Justin Johnson of Morehead, Mark (Cathy) Johnson of Elliottville, three daughters, Debbie Johnson of Olive Hill, Connie (Barry) Rayburn of Olive Hill and Sherri (Larry) Legare of Glasgow, Montana, twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Also, a special friend Delford Fraley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, May 28, 2017 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Brother Larry Robinson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Barnett Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark Johnson, Brian Johnson, Barrett Johnson, Derek Johnson, Caleb Brown, Joey McCleese, Jamie Barnett and Barry Rayburn.
Visitation is after 5 P.M. Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the funeral home.
