Vess Parker, 50, of Morehead, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016 at his home.
He was born on October 31, 1965 in Germantown, Kentucky, a son of Dorothy Flack Parker and the late Jimmie Parker.
Vess was a long time employee of Larry Fannin Chevrolet where he met many people, some whom he became close acquaintances with and whom he admired greatly. He worked as a young teenager building trails at the Morehead City Park and loved being outdoors. He enjoyed working in the yard, remodeling homes, trading in automobiles, guns and knives, and sitting around talking with friends and family.
Vess was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Parker and half-sister, Kathy Parker Stanley.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Melissa Parker, whom he married on February 1, 1985, two sons, Joshua (Sara) Parker and Darrin (Amanda) Parker all of Morehead, a daughter, Stephanie Parker of Louisville, his mother, Dorothy Flack Parker of Morehead, one brother, Jimmie Dean Parker of Florida, half-brother, Roger Dean Parker of Ohio and half-sisters, Wilma Jean Hernandez and Barbara Jean Dehart both of Morehead.
Vess left behind nine grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, K-dyn Parker, Kerri McClurg, Alex Parker, Leland Parker, Orien Parker, Lydia Parker, Kasandra Parker, Ronan Parker and Tobias Parker.
Vess believed that God was within ones heart and through their works; he was a kind and gentle soul who would do anything to help a person in need. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 6, 2016 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Herbert D. Lewis officiating.
Burial will follow in the Whisman Cemetery.
Visitation is after 12 Noon Sunday.
Pallbearers will be family.
