Sherley Gene Lovelace, 77 of Frenchburg, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at UK-St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead, Kentucky.

He was born December 23, 1947, in Winchester, Kentucky to the late Homer and Audra Mays Lovelace.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Homer Paul Lovelace and an infant sister Judy Lovelace.

Sherley was retired from the Frenchburg Job Corps and was a United States Army veteran. He was a member of the Big Woods Community Church and was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan. He loved to travel and found great joy traveling with his family.

Survivors include his wife Ruth Ann Sorrell Lovelace whom he married July 8, 1967.

One daughter, Angela Elizabeth Lovelace Brewer and her husband Oscar of Frenchburg. One son, Scottie Gene Lovelace and his wife Casey of Morehead.

Three grandchildren: Seth Brewer and his wife Megan, Luke Brewer and Avery Elena Lovelace. One great-granddaughter, Alaina Grace Brewer.

Also, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 Noon Friday at the Big Woods Community Church on Highway 1693 in Wellington, Kentucky with Pastor Jimmy Daulton officiating.

Burial will follow in the Big Woods Community Church Cemetery.

Full military rites will be performed by the Morgan County DAV Chapter 132.

Visitation at the Big Woods Community Church is after 5:00 P.M. Thursday.

Pall bearers will be Seth Brewer, Luke Brewer, Brian Helton, David Lawson, Eddie Sorrell, Jimmy Roberts, Randy Sorrell, Allen Patrick and Kevin Sorrell. Honorary bearers will be Paul David Howard, Jim Langworthy, Jim Smith, Robert Murphy, Jackie Howard, Jerry Howard, Tommy Richard, Freddie Church, Marty Clark, Milton Peck and Roger Conaster.

In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the Big Woods Community Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 176, Frenchburg, Kentucky.
