Sarah Allen

Mrs. Sarah Esther Sturgill Allen, 97, of Morehead, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born on October 18, 1915, in Loda, Illinois, a daughter of the late James and Anna Ethel Thomas Sturgill.

Mrs. Allen was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Morehead. She was an avid walker and enjoyed caring for her home and family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry J. Allen, four brothers, James Phillip Sturgill, William Sturgill, Paul Sturgill and Charles Sturgill and five sisters, Geneva Black, Helen Foster, Margaret Moore, Ruth Sturgill and an infant sister.

Survivors include her son, David (Virginia) Allen of South Point, Ohio, two sisters, Regina Mack and Frances Kidd both of Morehead, three grandsons, Shawn Allen of South Point, Ohio, Michael (Samantha) Allen of Columbus, Ohio and Richard Todd (Gina) Allen of Chesapeake, Ohio, six great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Macy, Max, Cody, Sara Elizabeth and Mathew, special friends, Leah, Lois Spurlock and Betty Smith and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 17, 2013 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Molly Smothers officiating.

Graveside services and burial will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Pallbearers will be Michael Allen, Shawn Allen, Todd Allen, Cody Allen, Nicholas Allen and Ray McClure.

Visitation is after 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
