Samantha Griggs

November 1, 1996 — May 22, 2018

Morehead

Samantha Nicole Arnold Griggs, 21, of Morehead passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at her home after an extended illness.

She was born on November 1, 1996 in Morehead, Kentucky, a daughter of Lonnie and Tonya Jent Arnold.

Samantha was a homemaker, a 2015 graduate of Rowan County Senior High School and she attended the Sharkey Baptist Church.

She loved to attend church.  At the age of 10 years old on April 1, 2006, she gave her heart to the Lord and  was baptized the next week.  She had always been a strong person, not ever complaining about anything.  Her strength and faith have been an inspiration to so many people.  Her light will always shine on.

Three years ago, she was asked if she had any dreams and she responded Yes, I have three wishes: 1. Go to prom, 2. Graduate, 3. Get married.  The Lord blessed us to give her, her very own prom with the help of family, friends and community.  She also walked across the stage to receive her diploma. And on Sept 26th, she had her dream country wedding.  God truly blessed her beyond measure.  She also enjoyed crafts, reading, and riding the motorcycle with her Dad.  Samantha loved her fur babies, the ocean and had a passion for shoes, which she had an extensive collection of.

She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Connie Griggs, her paternal grandfather, Robert Arnold, her maternal grandfather, Ralph Jent and her maternal step-grandfather, Carl “Petey” Lewis.

Survivors include her husband, Tony Dale Griggs, whom she married on September 26, 2015, her parents, Lonnie and Tonya Jent Arnold of Morehead, one brother, Parker Arnold of Morehead, one sister, Sarah Arnold of Morehead, her paternal grandmother, Pauline Arnold of Morehead, her maternal grandmother, Rhonda Lewis of Morehead, her father-in-law, Danny Griggs of Clearfield, two uncles, John (Cindy) Arnold of Morehead and Ryan Lewis of Morehead, three aunts, Patti (Lou) Diefenbach of Linden, Michigan, Sharon (John) Metro of Howell, Michigan and Regina Lewis of Morehead and several cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Sharkey Baptist Church, 2755 Sharkey Road, Morehead with Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. and Brother Carlos Bowman officiating.

Burial will follow in the Griggs Cemetery in Bath County.

Visitation at the Sharkey Baptist Church is after 1:00 P.M. Friday.

Pallbearers will be Tony Griggs, Lonnie Arnold, Parker Arnold, John Arnold, Mason Ferguson and Ryan Lewis.

Contributions are suggested to the Samantha Griggs Funeral Fund C/O Sharkey Baptist Church.
