Ruby Lee Pettit

Ruby Lee Pettit, age 92, passed from this earthly life, at 2:05 pm at Good Samaritan Hospice, on August 17, 2026

Born May 25, 1934 in Fleming County, she was the youngest daughter of Martin Luther and Martha Lee Brittain Conn. She started her formal education at Goddard School before moving with her family to Rowan County.

Ruby worked at Cowdens Sewing Factory for 17 years and then Maloneys department store.

Ruby enjoyed listening to the radio, tending to her flowers and tomatoes, doing puzzles and word searches, keeping up with the news, reading books, sitting outside to enjoy the fresh air and drinking coffee on Sundays.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Pettit, her sister Mary Lucy Emmons and brothers, Jamie L. Conn and Charles E. Conn.

She is survived by her children, Larry (Cathy) Pettit of Morehead, Dianna Pettit of Morehead, Paul (Dorinda) Pettit of Hopkinsville, and Robert Pettit of Morehead. In addition to her children she is survived by her grandchildren Jessi (Stuart) Hamilton of Hopkinsville, Michael (Crystal) Pettit of Hopkinsville, Christopher Pettit of Greenup, Elizabeth (Timothy) Baker of Rome New York, Ashley (Brian) Fuoss of Lancaster, Amanda “Rose” Pettit of Frankfort, Kaitlyn (Anthony) Paschall of Morehead, and her favorite, the baby, Makayla (John) Sachse of Morehead. Great Grandchildren, Leonard Pettit, Benjamin Cameron, Luke Fuoss, Miles Paschall, Joseph Baker, Cruze Fuoss, Scarlett Paschall, and Skylar Sachse.

In addition to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren Ruby is survived by many nieces and nephews.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral; the family will have a memorial at a later time.

The Michael R. Gray Funeral Home at 808 Old Flemingsburg Road in Morehead is caring for all arrangements for Ruby Lee Pettit.
