Robert "Bob" Camuel

August 10, 1949 — October 5, 2025

Morehead

Robert (Bob) Gordon Camuel, husband of Nona Carollo Camuel, passed away Sunday, Oct 5, 2025 at his home in Morehead, Kentucky. He was born August 10, 1949, in Duluth, Minnesota to Gordon and Victoria Jazdzeweski Camuel. At age 7, his family relocated to Lexington, Kentucky where he spent his childhood. He attended St. Paul Elementary School, Lexington Catholic High School and graduated from the University of Kentucky. Bob spent his youth playing Little League baseball at Southland Park, moved up to American Legion Baseball and was the catcher for Lexington Catholic Knights baseball.

Following graduation from UK, he began his career with Hinkle Contracting as an accountant, Appalachian Regional Hospitals as an auditor, Mary Immaculate Hospital, as Director of Financial Services in Lebanon, Kentucky and retired from St. Claire Regional Medical Center, Morehead where he served as Chief Financial Officer. He was a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus. He also served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserve. He supported and served on the boards of Christian Social Services and Morehead Credit Union; he was appointed to the first Diocese of Lexington Financial Council and served Jesus Our Savior parish as a long-time member of their Financial Committee. He was elected a Commissioner for the City of Lakeview Heights and was always proud to say his name was on the ballot with Barack Obama.

Bob was known for his love of family, steady demeanor, his honesty and loyalty to his friends and coworkers, and his grace for everyone. Until his illness, he spent his retirement days on the golf course, enjoying the game and his friends. In times of crisis, he will be remembered for saying “Everything will be ok.” It usually was. Quiet and unassuming, those closest to him were treated to his sense of humor, his ability to quote lines from movies or tv, and his gift for listening. His comforting and quiet presence will be greatly missed.

He was the proud and loving father of Christopher Robert Camuel (Adrielle), Lexington and Rebecca Marie Camuel Hart (Brad) Morehead. He cherished his grandchildren Camuel Dean Hart, Massachusetts, Benjamin Alexander Camuel, Lexington, Lucas R Hart, Louisville, and Madison Olivia Camuel, Danville. He is brother to Sue McCray (Wayne), Nicholasville, Diane (Babe) Graviss (Bob), Mary Mullis (Ron) Lexington and had many nieces and nephews who he loved and enjoyed. Carlos and Joyce Marin, their sons Joe, Tony and Alex and their children held a special place in his heart. He was preceded in death by his brother Arthur (Bun) Camuel.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Calvary Cemetery, Lexington.

Serving as honorary pall bearers will be Camuel Hart, Benjamin Camuel, Lucas Hart, Madison Camuel, Carlos Marin, Joseph Marin, Tony Marin and Alex Marin.
