Richard Allen Helterbrand

Richard Allen Helterbrand, 88, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.

He was born November 11, 1934 in Rowan County, Kentucky, to the late Leslie Helterbrand and Dollie Plank Helterbrand.

Richard worked in construction as a concrete finisher and he was a farmer having raised cattle, tobacco and hay.

He enjoyed working, loafing, attending farm auctions, and trading, and he was an avid coon and squirrel hunter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Jim Edd Helterbrand, Ernie Stacy, Chester Stacy, Claude Stacy and Cecil Stacy; and one infant sister.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Blevins Helterbrand, whom he married on June 4, 1960; one son, Stevie Helterbrand and Barb Ward of Morehead; two daughters, Cindy Smith and her husband, Kenis and Connie Gulley and her husband, Thomas all of Morehead; four grandchildren, Heather Wheeler (Billy), Brandon Smith (Bri), Ashley Conn (Devin), and Chelsea Carroll (Joe); three special great-grandchildren, Allyson Wheeler, Lucas Wheeler, and Nora Conn; Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday evening November 3, 2023 after 5:00 P.M. at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead.

Private funeral services will be conducted and burial will follow in the Hogge Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Shane Gilkerson, Billy Wheeler, Ronnie Bradley, Mike Nickell, Tyler Nickell, Dave Stacy, Harry Gulley, and Wayne Caudill.

Honorary casket bearer will be David Plank.
