Ramona "Mommy Moe" Ratcliff

November 1, 1928 — October 3, 2015

Ramona Ann “Mona” Sauber Ratcliff, 86, of Elliottville, Kentucky, formerly of Floyd County, Kentucky and Moscow, Michigan, passed away Saturday, Oct 3, 2015 at St Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky.

Mona, or “Mommy Moe” as she was known  by all who loved her, was born on November 1, 1928 in Jackson County, Michigan, one of 18 children born to Bernard Francis and Dottie Boner Sauber.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Luke Byron “Daddy Buddy” Ratcliff, to whom she was sealed for time and eternity in the Mesa Arizona Temple, 8 brothers: Gene, Bud, Herb, Jim, Tom, Bob, Ronnie, and Tony, and 3 sisters: Wanda, Judy, and Sheila.

She leaves behind to mourn her death sons, Ken and Steve Ratcliff, and daughter Kathy Horton, all of Elliottville, daughter Angie Carriere of Sevierville, Tennessee, ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and 1 great, great-grandchild, three brothers, John, Mickey and Pat. Three sisters, Susie, Reggie, and Nita.

Mona was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and attended church in Owingsville, Kentucky. She was a talented homemaker and who always made her family’s home cozy, warm, and inviting. She took great pride in the many and varied accomplishments of her children and grandchildren and was satisfied to meet their needs quietly in the background. Always a wonderful cook, she will be forever remembered for her Navajo fry bread, her BlackBerry cobbler, and for the ability to place gravy and biscuits with all the trimmings on the table within 20 minutes of being asked to do so.

We loved her and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Ratcliff Family Cemetery with Keith Kappes officiating.

There is no visitation.

The Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is caring for all arrangements.
