Ralph Swartz

Mr. Ralph Burton Swartz, 93, of Morehead, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013, at the Life Care Center of Morehead.

He was born on December 4, 1919 in Mauch Chunk, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Aaron L. Swartz and the late Fern S. Swartz.

Ralph served in the United States Navy as an aviation mechanic from 1943-1946. He then flew as a copilot and mechanic for J.R. Watkins, Inc. of Winona, Minnesota before flying as a pilot for Piedmont Airlines from 1951-1979. Prior to moving to Morehead in 2001, Ralph and Jean lived in Vienna, Virginia for fifty years.

In addition to aviation, Ralph possessed a lifelong love of golf as well as many other sports.

Ralph loved his family immensely and provided all of his grandchildren with the means to achieve a college education.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Fern S. Kunkle.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Jean Lewis Swartz, 95; their daughter, Linda S. Albert; son-in-law, Lawrence S. Albert; and three grandsons, John L. Albert, Daniel A. Albert, and Thomas G. Albert.

At his request there are no services or visitation.
