Mrs. Nancy Elizabeth Browning "Nan" Holbrook, Age 81 of Morehead, passed away Saturday evening, May 25, 2013 at the Cave Run Manor after an extended illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, former City of Morehead Mayor, John Will Holbrook, Jr. who passed away November 26, 2010.

Besides her parents and husband, Nan was preceded in death by five brothers, Woodford, Ed, Sam, John R. and Robert. Two sisters, Katherine Aufdenberg and Nina Rapp.

Nan was born in Montgomery County, Kentucky, April 5, 1932 to the late E. V. and Mae Richardson Browning.

One of 9 children, she is survived by one brother, James W. Browning (Irene) of Mt. Sterling, 3 sons James Thomas (J.T.) Holbrook (Janet) of Ft. Myers, FL, John W. Holbrook,III (Yvonne) of Pfafftown, N.C. and Samuel Woodford Holbrook (Susie) of Lexington, Ky.

Five grandchildren; Jay Holbrook, Chris Holbrook, Brad Holbrook, Adam Holbrook and Amy Holbrook and four great-grandchildren; Bella Grace Holbrook, Jonah Holbrook, Judah Christopher Holbrook and Braddock Rankley Holbrook.

Several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was a graduate of Mt. Sterling High School and was one of the original staff members of Cave Run Clinic where she worked until her retirement. She was well-known throughout the community and region. She was an avid sports fan, loved dancing, especially clogging, spending time at the lake, the outdoors and her family.

Nan was a member of the Morehead First United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Dr. Jack Ellis officiating.

Burial will follow in the Lee Cemetery.

Visitation at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home is from 5-8 P.M. Friday.

Pall Bearers will be Dr. Ed Scott, Ted Trent, Joseph Wolterman, Jr., Carl Sizemore, Steve Crail and Dexter Evans.
