Mrs. Mary Louise Lyon Adams, Age 85 of West Sun Street, Morehead passed away Thursday afternoon, May 31, 2012 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Paintsville, Kentucky on October 4, 1926 to the late Roscoe Conklin Lyon and Jesse LeMaster Lyon.

She was a mother, homemaker and former employee of the United States Forest Service. Mrs. Adams grew up on a farm with her four sisters and her father was a banker and her mother was a homemaker.

She was very humble as a young child, and in her adult life, and never changed.

She was a long time FDR Democrat having voted Democrat in every election since 1944; she got to meet Bill Clinton on two different occasions.

She was an avid reader, loved to travel, and had been in every county in Kentucky and had said many times that Fleming County was her favorite. She had been to 40 states and Canada three times.

Mrs. Adams was a Kentucky Colonel and loved Kentucky history.

She had many interests including, but not limited to, quilting, canning, history, politics, nature, bird watching, gardening, flowers, cows, horseracing, books, thimble collecting, and most of all, devotion to her family.

She loved to watch KET, especially Bill Goodman and Ferrell Wellman while drinking Dr. Pepper, her favorite soda. Mrs. Adams always wanted to be a journalist and loved newspapers. When stricken, she was picking up her newspaper at daylight. During her life, she read avidly a�" reading eight magazines a month, newspapers and about anything in which she could gain knowledge.

Mrs. Adams was a Christian having belonged to the Thealka Free Will Baptist Church and accepted Christ in 1961.

The best scripture to define her would be Leviticus 19:18. She always had a smile and a kind word with whomever she met.

God is happy with his new angel because she was too good for this Earth. We will never ever forget her.

Another of the "Greatest Generation" has passed.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Irvin Adams, two sons, Robin Royce Adams and Gary Douglas Adams.

Survivors include Two sons, Robert Adams of Lexington and Robin Adams of Morehead.

Three daughters, Ronda Parent and Regenia Barker both of Lexington and Reshia Mabry (Danny) of Morehead.

Four sisters, Olive Eckles of Barstow, Florida, Sarah Denisuk of Lexington, Alice Picklesimer of Paintsville, Kentucky and Rudelle Preston of Florence, Kentucky.

Six Grandchildren, Adam Mabry, Aaron Mabry, Keith Parent, Joshua Barker, Renee Laythen and Robbie Adams.

Three Great Grandchildren, Chad, Chantele and Chabria.

One Great-Great-Granddaughter, Cariyah.

Memorial services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday at the Morehead First Baptist Church with Rev. Don Mantooth and Rev. H. G. Pratt officiating.

Visitation at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home is Sunday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Burial at a later date will be in the Lyon Cemetery in Johnson County, Kentucky.
