Linda Lou DeWitt

Linda Lou DeWitt, 67, of Crestwood, Kentucky, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky after an extended illness.

She was born on March 13, 1958 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Leonard and Annie Burton DeWitt.

Linda graduated from Rowan County High School in 1976, where she was the co-salutatorian of her high school class. She also graduated from Morehead State University with a Masters Degree in Corrections. Linda was an employee of the State of Kentucky Prison in LaGrange, Kentucky. She worked her way up to Deputy Warden over security at the State Penitentiary. She retired in 2006 after working for 24 years.

Linda was of the Baptist faith and she enjoyed playing games on the computer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Tommy DeWitt, Leonard DeWitt and Ernest DeWitt and one sister, Kathleen DeWitt.

Survivors include one brother, Lawrence DeWitt (Connie) of Mason County, Kentucky, one sister, Billy Jo DeWitt of Salt Lick, Kentucky, three nephews, Jason DeWitt of Clearfield, Kentucky and Jonathan DeWitt and Michael DeWitt both of Ohio, four nieces, Sarah DeWitt of Indiana, Michele DeWitt of Lexington and Nikki DeWitt and Katie DeWitt both of Salt Lick and her beloved dog, Cocoa.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Friday, May 2, 2025 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Pastor Joey Damron officiating.

Burial will follow in the Adams-Plank Cemetery on Cranston Road in Morehead.

Visitation is after 10:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family would like to send out a special thanks to the nursing staff at Norton-Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, the nursing staff at Continuing Care Hospital in Lexington and also the nurses at the University of Kentucky Hospital for the exceptional care that they all provided to Linda.
