Lavena Scott

Lavena Jewell McClain Scott, 79 of Morehead, Kentucky passed away Friday, January 28, 2022, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead after an illness of several weeks.

She was born September 1, 1942, in Fleming County, Kentucky to the late Luther and Alice Mae Fogleman McClain.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John David Scott, brothers, Tom McClain and Bud McClain, sister, Annie Stamper and an infant sister.

Lavena was a former employee of Roses Department Store and Big Lots. She was of the church of God faith and enjoyed, puzzles, cooking, cookbooks and cooking shows.

Survivors include her son Richie (Marjie) Scott, one daughter, Kim (Roger E.) Fannin all of Morehead. Three brothers, Bobby McClain, Marion (Cricket) McClain and Paul McClain. Six sisters, Wanda Carter, Katie May, Esther McClain, Nina Thomas, Faye Skeens and Louise Fraley. Nine grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. Also, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday, January 31, 2022, in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is after 12:00 noon Monday.

Serving as pall bearers will be Tyler Scott, Colin Spencer, Adam Scott, John Hall, Chris Howard and Michael Hall.
