Kenneth "Kenny" Wayne Terrell

Kenneth “Kenny” Wayne Terrell, 77, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at his home.

Kenny was born September 14, 1948, in Pelfrey, Kentucky, the son of the late Columbus Terrell, Jr. and Mary Maxine Prater Terrell Gibson, and stepson of Russell Asa Gibson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life for 58 years, Kay Francis Martin Terrell, who passed away on March 4, 2025; two brothers, Michael Christopher Terrell and Gary Lee Terrell; one sister, Linda Sue Gibson Saunders; and three grandsons, Matthew Russell Terrell, Nathan Michael Terrell and Jared Michael Royse.

Kenny leaves behind to cherish his memory, one son, Russell Wayne Terrell (Maria); and two daughters, Kimberly Kay Royse (Clyde) and Leisa Faye Kidd, all of Morehead; and five grandchildren, Joshua Kidd, Tyler Kidd (Allie) and Kristen Royse of Morehead; Kylan Terrell Davenport (Neal) of Elizaville, Kentucky and Allie Terrell of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

He also leaves behind his beloved great-grandchildren: William and Whitley Davenport of Elizaville; Sean and Khloe Kidd of Morehead, and Peyton Royse of West Liberty, Kentucky.

Other survivors include, one sister, Connie Thompson and one brother, William “Billy” Gibson (Debbie) of Morehead.

Kenny was a retired Ironworker and member of Ironworker’s Local 769 of Ashland, Kentucky. He worked alongside several other brother Ironworkers from Morehead, including his son-in-law, Clyde Royse. They were known as ” The Morehead Boys” who got the job done. He worked several years with one special Ironworker brother and lifelong friend, Francis Callahan. They were known as Rocky and Bullwinkle on job sites.

Kenny enjoyed watching UK basketball, westerns and woodworking. He loved taking care of his yard and flowers. He was very particular about the care of his yard, so much so that when the EMS transported him home recently from the hospital, he was scanning the property to make sure it had been cared for to his liking.

He will be remembered for being the rock of the family and always willing to help and give to anyone that needed it.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 8, 2026 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Pastor Greg Resor officiating.

Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery on US 60 West in Morehead.

Visitation is after 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Clyde Royse, Billy Gibson, Tyler Kidd, Joshua Kidd, Sean Kidd, William Davenport and Steven Terrell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kylan Davenport, Allie Terrell, Kristen Royse, Khloe Kidd, Peyton Royse and Whitley Davenport.
