John Michael "Mike" Ward

John Michael “Mike” Ward, 63, of Middleburg, Florida formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 16, 2023 at his home.

He was born on March 8, 1959 in Morehead, Kentucky, a son of the late Donald and Grace McClurg Ward.

Mike was a retired heavy equipment operator for Local 49 Operating Engineer and he was a United States Army Veteran.

He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, collecting coins and working.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Sue Ward and Kris Ward Lipps.

Survivors include his daughter, Ashlee Hanko (Chase) of Bettendorf, Iowa, a step-daughter, Amanda Menear (Eric) of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, two brothers, Tim Ward of Morehead and Steve Ward (Nita) of Needville, Texas, one sister, Terrie Ann Ward (Roger Carter) of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, two grandchildren, Liam Hanko and Caleb Menear and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 21, 2023 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Pastor Elijah Sexton officiating.

Burial will follow in the Siloam Cemetery with full military rites conducted at the graveside by the Corbie Ellington American Legion Post No. 126.

Visitation is after 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Tim Ward, Rodney Gregory, Andrew Carroll, Matthew Carroll, Zack McClurg and Tony Glover.
