FUNERAL HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY



Johnie Morton Ellington, 82 of Morehead, Kentucky passed away Tuesday evening, January 20, 2026, at the U.K. Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

He was born March 25, 1943, in Rowan County, Kentucky to the late John Paul Ellington and Edith Johnson Ellington.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jacob Howard and by his sister, Loretta Mutschler.

Johnie was a retired truckdriver for the Homer Gregory Lumber Company and enjoyed hunting, gardening, riding his side by side and spending time with his great-grandson Jacobi. He was an avid collector of hammers and hatchets and had over 700 in his collection.

Survivors include his daughter, Felicia Howard and her husband Mike, his stepson, Timothy Fultz and his wife Teresa all of Morehead. One sister, Jewel "Judy" Green of Gilmer, Texas. Granddaughter, Micheala Chenoa Howard Smith and her husband Randy of Morehead. One great-grandson, Jacobi Smith and a great-granddaughter expected in April. Also, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 31, 2026, in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.

Burial will follow in the Ellington Cemetery.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is after 11:00 A.M. until the hour of the service on Saturday.

Pall bearers will be family and friends.
