John David "Johnny" Riggs

John David “Johnny” Riggs, 71, of Owingsville, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2025 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.

He was born on November 3, 1954 in Jefferson County, Kentucky, a son of the late Harry and Hilda Maxine Riggs.

Johnny was a retired carpenter.

He loved to go fishing and hunting with his best friend, his son, Johnathan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Riggs and one sister.

Survivors include one son, Johnathan Riggs of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, an adopted daughter, Lexie Riggs of Tennessee, cousins, Sandy Riggs of Flatwoods, Kentucky and Barbara Smithers of Indiana and his devoted caregiver, Wendy Caskey of Morehead.

A Celebration of Life Service for family and friends will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the Charity Freewill Baptist Church (Kentucky Highway 519, Morehead) with Pastor Rob Kidd officiating.

The Michael R. Gray Funeral Home at 808 Old Flemingsburg Road in Morehead is caring for all arrangements for John David “Johnny” Riggs.
