Jewell Dean Mitchell Combess, Age 71 of Elliottville, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born September 22, 1940 in Carlisle, Kentucky to Lillian Ruth Fryman Laypool and the late Arlie Mitchell.

Besides her father she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Dale Combess and one brother, Billy Mitchell.

Jewell was a former employee of Morehead State University and had formerly owned and operated Lou's Mobile Home Sales.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, enjoyed fishing, reading and spending time with her family, especially her Grandchildren.

Survivors include her Mother, Lillian Ruth Fryman Laypool of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Three sons, Virgil "Butch" (Gale) Dermon, Robert (Charlotte) Combess and David (Margina) Combess all of Elliottville, Kentucky.

Three daughters, Tammy (Paul) Newport and Mollie (Leroy Jr.) Sparks of Elliottville, Kentucky and Nancy (Herschel) White of Maysville, Kentucky.

One brother, Arlie Mitchell, Jr. of Chadsworth, Georgia and One sister, Janet Baker of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Fourteen Grandchildren and Six Great-Grandchildren.

Also, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Bro. Harold Ashcraft officiating.

Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home is after 6:00 P.M. Tuesday.

Pall Bearers will be Michael Dermon, Wesley Dermon, Michael Surface, Joshua Wheeler, Billy Joe Mitchell and Kyle Barker.
