Jergie "Joe" Fraley

September 9, 1924 — February 12, 2016

Mr. Jergie "Joe"  Fraley, 91, of Morehead, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.

He was born September 9, 1924 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Rev. Jake and Myrtle Plank Fraley.

Joe was a member of the Church of God and enjoyed woodworking, digging ginseng, raising a garden, visiting with his friends, feeding his pet squirrel "Sam", nature, the "Martin's returning in the spring and especially spending time with his family.

Joe was a World War II, U.S.Army veteran and was a retired concrete finisher, construction worker, carpenter and had worked at the Ray L. White Sawmill in maintenance. As a construcion worker and concrete finisher he had worked on many of the buildings on the campus of Morehead State University.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Wilda Genevieve "Gib" Estep Fraley on July 5, 2014, one son, Jerry Lee Fraley, who passed away on June 22, 1974, one grandson, Brian Lee Fraley who passed away December 1, 1983., three brothers, Zenith Fraley, Roy Fraley and John Fraley, three sisters, Cressie Lawson, Rena Hamilton and Mayme Spence.

Survivors include one son, Vaughn (Rita) Fraley of Morehead, one daughter, Charlotte (Steve) Bumgardner of Morehead, one brother, David Fraley of Morehead,  three grandchildren, Brad Fraley of Morehead, Jim Andy (Jacci) Bumgardner of Catlettsburg and Holley Jo (Rob) Nester of Kingsport, Tennessee, four great-grandchildren, Joseph Brock Nester, Kyla McKenzie Bumgardner, Kenna-Grace Bumgardner and Griffin Andrew Bumgardner. Also,  a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 16, 2016 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Jared DeAtley, Rev. Johnny Hatfield and Rev. Butch Kelsey officiating.

Burial with full military honors by the Corbie Ellington American Legion Post No. 126 will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jim Andy Bumgardner, Brad Fraley, Rob Nester, Rick Spence, Roger Estep and Dale Estep. Honorary pallbearers will be Vernon Estep, Denzil Fraley, Harold Fraley, Bernie Howell, Brock Nester, Jim Speaks, Bobby Lawson.
