Jean Lewis

October 26, 1924 — July 18, 2016

Mrs. Jean Mabry Lewis, 91, of Elliottville, passed away Monday morning, July 18, 2016 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.

She was born on October 26, 1924 in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late William P. and Beatrice Gilliam Mabry.

Mrs. Lewis had worked at Cowden’s Manufacturing and St. Claire Regional Medical Center.  She was a member of the Elliottville Baptist Church, the Eastern Star and the Birthday Club.

Jean enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading her Bible and vegetable gardening.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer “Blackie” Lewis, who passed away on November 10, 1990, one brother, Chalmer Mabry and one sister, Jewell Hale.

Survivors include two sons, Danny (Joyce) Lewis of Elliottville and Kenis (Cindy) Smith of Morehead, three grandchildren, Sheree Lewis Roark, Heather Wheeler and Brandon Smith, two great-grandchildren and many friends and other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 21, 2016 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Willie Sturgill and Rev. Tim Rhodes officiating.

Burial will follow in the Tick Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill.

Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Eddie White, Dail Howard, Clyde Mays, Jeff Mays, Kenny Skeans and Kenny Adkins and honorary pallbearers will be Vernon Lewis and Clayton Lewis.
