Mr. James F. “Gene” Caskey, 76, of Bratton Loop, Morehead, passed away Monday, March 16, 2020 at St. Claire HealthCare.
He was born on September 21, 1943 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Raymond and Ethel Davis Caskey.
Gene was a retired Ironworker and had previously owned and operated Bratton Kennels and Quail.
He was a member of the Ironworkers Local 769 in Ashland and he enjoyed Crappie and Muskie fishing, hunting, the outdoors, traveling and spending time with his family and his dog, Peanut.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Amelia Ann Caskey.
Survivors include one son, Joseph Caskey (Nancy) of Morehead, two daughters, Lavondia Barnes (Tom) of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Lee Caskey of Morehead, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one expected in November, two aunts, Faye Pelfrey and Loretta Davis both of Morehead and several cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 18, 2020 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow in the Warren Cemetery.
Visitation is after 12:00 Noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jesse McIntosh, David McClain, Johnny Wright, Steve Pelfrey, Vernon Pelfrey and Carl Pelfrey, Jr.
