James ("Jimmy") Johnson

July 8, 1966 — June 7, 2026

Michigan

James (“Jimmy”) Johnson, 59, born July 8, 1966, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, son, and friend whose steady presence and hardworking hands meant everything to those who knew him.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Jennifer Johnson; his sons, Josh Johnson and Jacob Johnson; his daughter‑in‑law, Miranda Johnson; and his mother, Della Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Johnson. He was a proud grandfather to Tanner, Cal, and Vera, who brought him endless joy and who will grow up hearing stories about his love, his humor, and his ability to fix just about anything.

He was deeply proud of his family and showed his love in the way he knew best—by being there whenever something needed to be done, repaired, or figured out. If something was broken, Jimmy could fix it. Whether it was a car that wouldn’t start, a project around the house, or a problem that needed calm thinking, he approached it with patience, determination, and quiet confidence. He was the person family and friends called when they didn’t know who else to turn to, and he never hesitated to help.

Jimmy also had a passion for racing and building race trucks. The garage and the track were his happy places, where he poured his creativity, skill, and competitive spirit into machines he brought to life with his own hands. He worked for Meijer as a facilities mechanic for 25 years and also worked at Technical Alternatives as a repair technician.

Those who knew Jimmy will remember his practical wisdom, his loyalty, and the way he always put his family first. His legacy lives on in the skills he passed down, the example he set, and the countless moments he shared with the people he loved.
