Mr. James Edward Caskey, 85, of Morehead, passed away Monday, September 17, 2018 in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington.
He was born on April 14, 1933 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late O’Rear Caskey and Gertrude Stamper Caskey Stanley.
Mr. Caskey was a retired Rowan County School Bus Driver, after 30 years of service. He had also owned and operated Veterans Cab and Jim’s Ambulance Service and had worked with his family at Mayflower Tourist Camp. Mr. Caskey was also former Rowan County Coroner.
He was a United States Army Veteran and he enjoyed Bluegrass Music and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie Caskey and Bobby Caskey.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Fraley Caskey, one son, Dale Caskey (Debbie Pigman) of Morehead, one daughter, Terri Clark (Jerry) of Morehead, one brother, Donald Caskey of Port Charlotte, Florida, five grandsons, Franklin Clark, Trevor Clark, Jesse Clark, Christopher Caskey and Crayton Caskey, six great-grandchildren, Joslyn Clark, Kennedy Clark, Easton Clark, LaKoda Clark, Maverick Clark and Cage Spencer and a great-grandson who is expected in November, Walker Clark.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, September 20, 2018 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Steven Hill and Rev. Jill Hill officiating.
Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery.
Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the Corbie Ellington American Legion Post No. 126.
Visitation is after 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and son-in-law, Jerry Clark.
