James Bowlin

Mr. James "Pop" Bowlin, 81, of Springport, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 15, 2012 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana.

He was born on May 2, 1931 in Bath County, Kentucky, a son of the late J. H. and Laura Wells Bowlin.

James was an over the road semi truck driver for Brada-Miller Transport and York Casket Company. He also transported grain for several years for Lynn Elevator. He served his country on the front lines of the Korean War as a U.S. Marine. He was a loving person with an outgoing personality and never knew a stranger. He was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan and loved horses.

Survivors include his wife, Cloma G. Lewis Bowlin, a son, Jerry (Connie) Bowlin of Losantville, Indiana, a son-in-law, Pete Jones of New Castle, Indian, his father-in-law, Sidney Clay Lewis of Clearfield, sister-in-law, Janet Butcher of Clearfield, three grandsons, Brent (Laura) Bowlin of Economy, Indiana, Kurtis (Cara) Bowlin of Losantville, Indiana and Zach Jones of New Castle, Indiana, four great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mitzi Gail Jones, who passed away in 2008, two brothers, E. T. Bowlin and Earie Bowlin and a sister, Louetta Hatfield.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2012 at Sproles Family Funeral Home in New Castle, Indiana with Pastor Jerry Bowlin officiating.

Burial will follow in Mt. Summit Cemetery with military honors provided by contingents from the U.S. Marine Corp and the VFW and American Legion.

Visitation is from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday and is one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry County Heart Society or the Little Red Door.
