Jack Glennus Carter, 80, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 in Morehead, Kentucky. Born on June 10, 1945 in Lexington, Kentucky, Jack was known for his 36 year career at the Morehead Post Office, as both a letter carrier and window clerk, from where he retired in September 2000.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Carolyn Sue (Susie) Flannery Carter, twin daughters, Andrea Counts (Billy) and Allison Carter (Kate); and four grandchildren, Matthew Fultz, McKayla Fultz, Anna Counts, and Willa Counts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Kirk Carter, Jr. and Berniece Stegall Carter.
After retiring from USPS, he went on to work at the Rowan County Courthouse. He also spent time driving for Bath County Medical and Tim Short Auto. His favorite role was transporting new and used cars across multiple states for Tim Short, where he built many friendships and especially enjoyed the travel.
Jack will be remembered for a life full of humor, strong opinions, and unwavering reliability. He had a gift for making people laugh and loved nothing more than joking with friends.
Known for his stubborn streak, Jack stood firm in what he believed—especially when it came to politics. If you didn’t know his politics, you didn’t know Jack.
Beyond the jokes, he was someone you could count on. He was always on time, never missed work.
He leaves behind friends and loved ones who will carry forward the memories of his humor, his conviction, and his loyalty.
He attended Freewill Baptist at Bluestone.
