Hope Smith

Mrs. Hope Smith, 89 passed away Sunday evening, November 1, 2020 at  Edgewood Estates in Frenchburg. She was born June 19, 1931 in Perry County, Kentucky to the late Ira J. and Ennis Pigman Francis.

Hope was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morehead and had attended various other churches where she and her husband had lived throughout their lives. She always enjoyed being involved in the life of the church and was very active serving on a number of committees and church boards. She attended Transylvania University and was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. She was a member of P.E.O. and attended regularly.  Her faith and family were very important to her. She was known to get up early every morning reading and studying her bible and spending time in prayer.

Hope had worked for the Parkway School System in St. Louis, Missouri and in the congressional office of Terry Bruce in Illinois for many years.

Survivors include her husband E. A. Smith whom she married November 3, 1951. One daughter Linda Smith Dike and her husband Greg of Wellington, Kentucky. One son Steven I. Smith and his wife Jane of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 4, 2020 in the Englewood Cemetery in Hazard with Greg Dike officiating.

There is no visitation.
