Hildreth Virginia Roe, 85, of Elliottville, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 28, 2026, at UK St. Claire in Morehead, Kentucky.
She was born February 24, 1941, in Elliott County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Harve and Lydia Wilson Weddington.
Hildreth was employed by Cave Run Clinic as an orthopedic secretary for 38 years until her retirement in 2006. Upon retirement she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, canning and sewing. She enjoyed canning vegetables from the garden that she and Noah tended each summer. More than anything, her pride and joy were sewing and quilting. She would show anyone who stopped in the many quilts she had pieced and had a story about why she loved each one.
Hildreth was a member of the Elliottville Baptist Church, where she was baptized alongside her husband Noah.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Noah David Roe, whom she married on November 20, 1970, five brothers, Alfred Weddington, Bernis Weddington, Kenneth Weddington, Menifee Weddington and Curtis Weddington, as well as one sister, Mary Gillum.
Survivors include one son, William David “Bill” (Sheila) Roe of Morehead, Kentucky, one daughter, Mary Katherine (Roy) Slone of Elliottville, Kentucky, one brother, Wendell Weddington of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, four grandchildren, Amanda (Phillip) Bradley, Emily Slone, Wyatt Slone, and Kaitlyn Slone, two great-grandchildren, Abigail Bradley and Hunter Bradley, as well as several nieces and nephews who she loved very much.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 31, 2026, in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Larry Robinson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Roe Family Cemetery.
Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Roy Slone, Wyatt Slone, Phillip Bradley, Isaiah Rice, Hunter Mayse and David Ray Gillum.
