Evelyn Brown

October 10, 1933 — December 11, 2015

Mrs. Evelyn Jolene Sloas Brown, 82 of Morehead, passed into the arms of Jesus on Friday evening, December 11, 2015 in the Life Care Center in Morehead after an extended illness.

She was born in Elliott County, Kentucky October 10, 1933 to the late Erma and Ova Adkins Sloas.

Jolene was a longtime partner with her husband operating Gene's Car Care in Morehead for many years. She was a former telephone operator and a former represenative of Lott's Paper Company in Dayton, Ohio. She was a past board member of the Rowan County Public Library and was active in the Women's Club, Sharkey Homemakers Club, Rowan County Junior Miss, St. Claire Hospice, Volunteered at Morehead State University and was an active member of the Mt. Pisgah Christian Church. She enjoyed all kinds of needle work, puzzles, decorating, cooking, entertaining, reading and poetry writing.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Brown, four brothers, Elmo Sloas, Glennis Sloas, Bobby Sloas and Donnie Sloas.

Survivors include her son Darryl Eugene Brown of Morehead. Two daughters, Vanessa (Bob) Carpenter of Owingsville and Teresa (Chuck) Cooper of Versailles.

Two sisters, Elizabeth (John) Wagner and Jeri (Mike) Wagner both of Plummers Landing.

Three Granddaughters, Alexandra Carpenter, Caryn Ray and Megan Thacker. Two great-grandchildren Cooper and Caroline Ray

Also, many other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Mt. Pisgah Christian Church with Rev. Chuck Cooper, Bro. James DeAtley and Bro. Clifford Muse officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.

Visitation at the Mt. Pisgah Christian Church will be from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Monday and after 10:00 A.M. Tuesday.

Contributions are suggested to the Mt. Pisgah Christian Church or St. Claire Hospice..

Pall Bearers will be Bob Carpenter, Mike Wagner, John Wagner, Omer Brown, Barry Sloas, Chris Ray and Bryan Thacker.

The Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is caring for all arrangements for Mrs. Evelyn Jolene Sloas Brown.
