Mrs. Ethel Mauk Anderson, 88, of Island Fork Road, Morehead, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at her home.

She was born on July 17, 1925, in Elliott County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Frederick B. and Amanda Jane Holbrook Mauk.

Mrs. Anderson was a former airplane mechanic helper at Patterson Field at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and she also served as Rowan County Deputy Jailer during her husband's terms as jailer.

Ethel was a member of the Church of God and an artist, who enjoyed painting. She also enjoyed playing the guitar, sewing, gardening, working in flowers and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Anderson, who passed away on August 15, 2007, ten brothers, James Mauk, Thomas Mauk, Roosevelt Mauk, Robert Mauk, Richard Mauk, Frederick B. Mauk, Jr., Charles Mauk, Major Mauk, John Henry Mauk and Peter Mauk, three sisters, Gertrude Mauk, Sarah Lee Whitt and Mary Ada Whisman and one grandson, Christopher Anderson.

Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn (Ralph) Webb of Soldier, two sons, Jessie T. (Andrea) Anderson and Jack R. (Janice) Anderson all of Morehead, one brother, Rondal A. Mauk of Ashland, six grandchildren, Cherri Keaton, Mike Webb, Brad Anderson, Jason Anderson, Leah Anderson and Jeremy Anderson, eight great-grandchildren, Chris Webb, Kayla Webb, Elyshia Webb, Lexan Gilbert, Madison Anderson, Alex Webb, Samantha Webb and Karmyn Grace Keaton and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M Friday, November 8, 2013 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Ison officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hogge Cemetery at Cranston.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Cherri Keaton, Mike Webb, Brad Anderson, Jason Anderson, Leah Anderson and Jeremy Anderson.

Contributions are suggested to St. Claire Hospice or The Gideons International.

Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Thursday.
