Dixie Yocum Tackett

Dixie Yocum Tackett, age 92, of Wallingford, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2026, at UK-St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead, Kentucky.

She was born February 2, 1933, in Menifee County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Arnold Smith Wells and Roxie Yocum Spencer.

Dixie was a true homemaker, who enjoyed raising her children, taking care of her family, cooking, canning and gardening.

Besides her parents, Dixie was preceded in death by her two husbands William Chester Johnson and Winford Owen Tackett, four sons, Stephen Allen Tackett, Dale Johnson, Larry Dean Tackett, and Terry Lee Tackett, and one daughter, Connie Sue Tackett Hilterbrand.

Surviving are sons, David Tackett (Christine), Earl (Marlene) Tackett, and Daniel (Lisa) Tackett all of Morehead, Bill Tackett, Tim Tackett and Damon Tackett all of Wallingford, daughters, Freda (Tom) Peck of Korea, Kentucky, Barbara Tackett of Tollesboro, Kentucky, and Charlotte Conley and Teresa Tackett both of Wallingford, a special grandson, Ben Tackett, whom she loved as a son, a special granddaughter, Jessica Lewis (Jeremy Ashley), whom she loved as a daughter, three special grandkids, Shelby, Sierra and Savannah Tackett and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 30, 2026, in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead.

Burial will follow in the Newman Cemetery in Fleming County.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is after 11:00 A.M. Friday.

Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons.
