Charles R. "Rick" Butler, 71 of Rock Fork Road, Morehead, Kentucky passed away, Friday, April 17, 2026, at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

Rick was born September 23, 1954, in Ashland, Kentucky a son of the late Charles Roy Butler and Don Rita Womack Butler.

Rick was a school bus driver and monitor for the Rowan County School System. A job that he truly loved.

He enjoyed reading, gardening, listening to music and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Donna Kiser and a beloved brother-in-law Larry Collins.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years Carol Stallman Butler one daughter Nellie Crouch and her husband Bradley of Morehead. One son, Matthew James Butler and his wife Diana of Vermont.

One brother, James Kemper Butler (Sandy) of Manhattan, Kansas, Four sisters, Franacey Bowling (John "Bull") and Faye Ferguson of Clearfield, Kentucky, Joyce Collins and Pauletta Flannery (Tom Gibson) of Morehead.

Three grandchildren: Brittany Carter (Colin Henderson), Rebecca Carter and Erin Crouch. Two step-grandchildren,Danielle Dotson (James), Nahshon Crouch (Caitlyn) all of Fleming County. Eight great-grandchildren, Maci Hunter and Levi Dotson, Bentley and Savannah Crouch, Lilly Smith, Cason Henderson and Harper Lowe. 

Too many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives to mention.

There will be a celebration of life 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 12 noon.

In lieu of flowers and gifts contributions are encouraged to the Rowan County Public Library.

The Michael R. Gray Funeral Home, 808 Old Flemingsburg Road, Morehead is caring for all arrangements for Charles R. "Rick" Butler and his family.
