Betty Jane Mauk Hall

Betty Jane Mauk Hall, 83, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, February 12, 2024 at the Life Care Center in Morehead. 

She was born on September 25, 1940 in Elliott County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Langley Roosevelt Mauk and Catherine Fife Mauk. 

Betty was a homemaker and a member of the Charity Free Will Baptist Church.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, flowers, traveling, collecting dolls, and most importantly spending time with her precious family. She loved visiting the Smokey Mountains and singing country and gospel music, especially if Dolly Parton or Loretta Lynn were involved.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Hall, who passed away in 2005, one daughter, Martha Ann Erwin, who passed away in 1977, one brother, Elwood Mauk, two sisters, Margaret Mauk and Ida Johnson Helms, one granddaughter, Jennifer and one great-grandson, Isaiah.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph Smith of Wellington, Kentucky and Stanley Erwin (Norabelle) of Morehead, two daughters, Melissa Anderson of Olive Hill, Kentucky and Paula Skaggs (Larry) of Morehead, one brother, Franklin Mauk (Donna) of Morehead, six sisters, Colleen Reed and Delphia Plank (Eugene) all of Morehead, Virgie Marie Littleton (Fred) of Hillsboro, Kentucky, Laura Skaggs (Charlie) and Kathy Holbrook (Kenneth) all of Elliott County, Kentucky and Mary Ann Littleton (Buddy) of Olive Hill, six grandchildren, Sarah, Rebekah, Daniel, Casey, William and Stanley Howard, four great-grandchildren, Zander Michael, Gavin, Zander and Wrenley and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 18, 2024 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Pastor Robert Kidd officiating.

Burial will follow in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Carter County, Kentucky.

Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Gavin Walling, Casey Smith, Shelby Mauk, Dennis Skaggs, Tommy Messer and Dennis Walling.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Skaggs, Zander Smith, Sarah Skaggs, Zander Michael, Stanley Howard and Buddy Littleton.
