Mr. Arthur V. “Art” Mabry, 83, of Maxey Flat Road, Hillsboro, passed away Friday, January 9, 2015 in the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.
He was born on December 26, 1931 in Sideway, Kentucky, a son of the late Robert L. and Sarah R. Catron Mabry.
In August 1990 Mr. Mabry retired from Ford Motor Company after 34-1/2 years of service and returned to live in Hillsboro, Kentucky. He was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany from January 1952 to November 1954.
Art attended the Morehead First Church of God and enjoyed mowing his lawn and keeping his vehicles in "showroom" condition. He also enjoyed camping, traveling, 4-wheeling, hunting, and visiting with his neighbors. He loved to stay busy and work outside. He was an excellent provider to his family and will be lovingly remembered by them.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Curt Mabry, Elbert Mabry, Ivan Mabry and Cletis Mabry and one sister, Clara Mabry Royse.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Skaggs Mabry of Hillsboro, Kentucky, four sons, Steve Mabry and Beth Mabry of Nashville, Tennessee, Wayne Mabry (Barry Mayo) of Alva, Florida, Lee (Gina) Mabry of Plymouth, Michigan and Jeff (Margie) Mabry of Winchester, two daughters, Loretta Mabry of Waterford, Michigan and Marilyn (Dan) Post of Spencerville, Ohio, one sister, Thelma Justice of Logan, West Virginia, six grandchildren, Adam (Heather) Mabry, Amanda Mabry (Eric) Holecamp, Elizabeth Gladfelter, Alicyn Mabry, Stephanie Mabry and Marissa Mabry and three great-grandchildren, David Peterson, Evan Mabry and Roselyn Holecamp.
Also, several nieces, nephews and a special friend Val Thatcher.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Pastor Allan Hutchinson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Catron Cemetery in Elliott County.
Full military honors will be conducted at the graveside by Corbie Ellington American Legion Post No. 126.
Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Elbert Cox, Dayton Porter, Virgil Catron, Jeff Mabry, Steve Mabry, Dan Post, Dick Gousphal and Adam Mabry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Teddy Ginter, Brian Belcher, Mike Casey, Sid Allen, Lee Mabry and Art Mabry.
