Amy Kenley

May 12, 1960 — August 31, 2010

Amy Lou Harris Kenley, 50, of Wallingford, joined our Lord in Heaven peacefully on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, after a heroic fight against cancer at her home with her loved ones by her side.

Amy was born on May 12, 1960 in Hayswood Hospital in Maysville, Kentucky, a daughter of William and Jean Moore Harris of Hillsboro, Kentucky.

Amy grew up on Maxey Flat Road in Hillsboro, sharing many precious hours working alongside her friends and family on her parent's farm. She was employed at Fleming County Hospital on two different occasions for a total of 17 years of service (1979-1985 and 1990-2001), until an injury on the job left her disabled. Between the time she was employed at the hospital, Amy briefly lived in Daytona Beach, Florida, then moved to Mt Sterling, Kentucky where she was part owner of the Club Fun Arcade from 1986-1990.

She was a member of the wonderful, loving, and caring Sharkey Freewill Baptist Church, located on US Highway 158 (Sharkey Road). She was baptized by her Pastor, Harley Sexton Jr., assisted by her long time friend, Richard Engle, on May 2, 1999 in Stoney Cove at Cave Run Lake in Farmers, Kentucky. Not only did she enjoy attending services, but she also helped as much as she could during special events, especially Vacation Bible School.

Anyone who knew Amy knows she loved spending time with her family and friends. It was very seldom that she didn't have music playing in the background with her singing along. She also loved to read and enjoyed watching her daughters' sports activities.

She was a loving and proud mother to her two daughters, Stephanie and Samantha Kenley, both of Wallingford, Kentucky. Her life will also be remembered by her many friends and a large, loving family including: her parents, her paternal grandmother, Georgia Thomas Harris of Hillsboro, three brothers, Jeffrey Harris (Charlotte Frasure) of Wallingford, Franklin (Shawona) Harris of Hillsboro and Richard (Seleslie) Harris of Hazard, Kentucky and one sister, Sandra Stevens of Clearfield, Kentucky. Also, a multitude of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Omar Harris of Hillsboro, her maternal grandparents, Scott and Barbara Stephens Moore, who resided the majority of their lives in Elliott County, Kentucky, as well as her brother, Gregory Harris.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 3, 2010 at the Sharkey Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. and Rev. Herbie Stallard officiating.

Visitation at the Sharkey Freewill Baptist Church will be after 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 1st and after 5:00 P.M. Thursday, September 2nd.

Friends and family are welcome to mind the Lord and share memories and/or songs throughout these proceedings.

Interment will follow in the Prince Cemetery on Maxey Flat Road.

Pallbearers will be Jared Harris, Casey Harris, Eric Copher, Brian Blevins, Rev. Kenny Fouch, Jerry Ferguson, Rev. Richard Engle and Rev. Andy Lands and honorary pallbearers will be Rev. John Tucker and Bobby Dyer.

Our celebration of Amy's new eternal life with our Lord will follow at the fellowship hall at the church.

Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home is caring for all arrangements.
