Richard Jenkins

Richard L. "Dick"  Jenkins, 72 of Flemingsburg Road, Morehead, passed away Saturday morning, June 30, 2018 at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

He was born in Clearfield, Kentucky on February 3, 1946 a son of the late Medford and Rosa Mynhier Jenkins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Crager, three brothers, Ralph Jenkins, Charles Jenkins and Martin Jenkins. A sister-in-law, Hazel Jenkins and a brother-in-law, Jack Barber.

Dick was of the Primitive Baptist faith, a member of the Rowan County Jaycees, Favorite Lodge No. 581 and the Kentucky Houndsman Association.

He was a much loved bus driver for the Rowan County School System where he considered each and everyone he worked with as close as family. He loved and cared for the children on his bus and was especially fond of his special needs children.

He loved life, his family and his country and was proud to be a patriotic American. His last act of kindness and caring was that of being an organ donor.

Besides driving the school bus, Dick and his wife owned and operated the Bulk Plant, Inc. in Flemingsburg for several years. As well as Jenkins Ashland Service Station in Flemingsburg and was a partner with his brother Anthony in Jenkins Garage on Dry Creek in Clearfield.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, boating, driving his Jeep, his family, friends, horseback riding and traveling.

Richard is survived by his wife of 52 years, Diana Lambert Jenkins whom he married October 23,1965. his daughter, Tammy Jenkins of Morehead and granddaughter, Conner Elaine Livingood all of Morehead.

Also surviving are three brothers, Fred Jenkins (Nancy Lewis), Mike (Sandy) Jenkins  and Anthony Jenkins all of Morehead, Kentucky.

Two sisters, Phyllis (Clyde) Sluss and Marion Barber both of Morehead, Kentucky.

Also, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 12 Noon, Tuesday in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Elder Noel Lee and Elder Cephas Littleton officiating.

Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery.

Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Monday at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead.

Masonic rites will be conducted at the funeral home at 7:30 P.M. Monday by Favorite Lodge No. 581.

Pallbearers: Scott Jenkins, Cameron Jenkins, Mitch Jones, Zack McClurg, Chopper Pollock and Ryan Morgan. Honorary pallbearers: Larry Barber, Greg Pollock, Darren Pollock and Gayle Pollock.
