Casper "Cas" Montgomery

July 14, 1931 ~ January 9, 2019 (age 87)

Mr. Casper (“Cas”) Montgomery, 87, of New Castle, Kentucky formerly of Bath County, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in the New Castle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Castle.

He was born in Magoffin County, Kentucky on July 14, 1931, Kentucky, a son of the late Troy and Hazel Montgomery.

Mr. Montgomery was a hard worker.  He worked the farm before he was old enough to go to high school, resulting in a 6th grade education; his father was dying of leukemia, so he and his sister, Maxine pitched in.

Cas was of the Church of God faith and he was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean War.

As a young man, he ran a GMC dealership in Georgetown.  In 1973, he moved his family to Florida, where he ran an auto body shop and spent most of his off time fishing in the backyard.

He had a great hillbilly sense of humor and loved to clog dance.  Cas loved his Lord, his family, strong coffee, biscuits and gravy (he made skillet scrambles before they were invented), Westerns, Gospel and old time country music, Little Debbie snacks, Bloody Marys and Vodka Screwdrivers, in just about that order.

Cas was a hillbilly, a husband, a father, and a wonderfully loyal son to his Momma and he was always a loyal loving brother to his siblings and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Burl Montgomery, Jewel Montgomery, Chalmer Montgomery, Homer Montgomery, Delmer Montgomery, Bill Montgomery, Maxine Price and Mae Maze.

Survivors include his children, Jewel Ann Sapp of Westcliffe, Colorado and Cas Anthony Montgomery of Spring Hill, Florida, one brother, Ken Montgomery of Fairhope, Alabama, three grandchildren, Michael Montgomery, Cassidy Fawcett and Kathryn Wilkinson and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be conducted at a later date.

There is no visitation.
